Transport, Investment Ministers Inspect Operations, Supply Chain Resilience at King Abdullah Port

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser and Minister of Investment Fahad Al-Saif inspected King Abdullah Port in Rabigh Governorate on Tuesday, as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the development of the logistics sector and ensure the smooth flow of container handling and supply chain operations.

During the inspection visit, the two ministers reviewed cargo-handling activity at the port, assessed the readiness of operational facilities, and monitored work at the port’s berths to ensure the smooth flow of goods and the continuity of operations at high efficiency.

The visit also included a review of mechanisms to enhance the efficiency of supply chains and logistics services, as well as verification of operational readiness to accommodate the growing demands of global trade across the Red Sea.

The two ministers affirmed the pivotal role of King Abdullah Port as a modern trade gateway linking Asia, Europe, and Africa, given its strategic location in King Abdullah Economic City and its service to major industrial hubs in Makkah, Madinah, Yanbu, and Rabigh.

They also highlighted the port’s role in strengthening connectivity between the Red Sea ports and the Gulf states to facilitate the flow of goods and boost inbound and outbound container traffic to cities across the Kingdom and the Arabian Gulf, particularly in light of current regional developments.

They noted that this ensures the continued flow of supply chains with ease and flexibility, while enhancing the integration of the ports system with special economic zones. The incentives and attractive regulatory environment of these zones help attract local and international investments, support value chains and export industries, and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics and investment hub.

King Abdullah Port is the first port in the Kingdom to be fully developed and operated by the private sector, reflecting the success of investment partnerships in enhancing the Kingdom’s operational capabilities and the attractiveness of the ports and maritime transport sector for accessing international markets and facilitating global maritime trade, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

The port’s annual capacity exceeds 20 million TEUs, with advanced capabilities to accommodate the world’s largest container vessels, supported by modern equipment and berths 18 meters deep. This directly contributes to accelerating logistics operations and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.
