Music Commission Announces 'Marvels of Saudi Orchestra' Concert in Rome
Under the patronage of Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of the Music Commission Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Music Commission has announced that the 11th stop of its acclaimed “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” world tour will take place in Rome this May, featuring artist Andrea Bocelli, alongside a curated presentation of the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir, as well as the Saudi performing arts by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission.
The “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” world tour began in Paris, continued through Mexico City, New York, London, and Tokyo, then returned to Riyadh at the King Fahad Cultural Center. The journey has since expanded to include the Sydney Opera House, the Château de Versailles in Paris, and the iconic Maraya Theater in AlUla, serving as a bridge for cultural exchange, where Saudi musical traditions and performing arts engage in dialogue with global audiences.
Bringing the tour to Rome, a city synonymous with history, art, and classical music, carries particular significance for this latest edition of the tour. By appearing in one of Europe’s great cultural capitals, the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir continue to demonstrate how music can transcend borders, foster dialogue, and build cultural bridges through shared artistic expression.
The concert will feature a curated program of Saudi, Italian, and international works performed by the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir and Italian orchestral musicians under the baton of Maestro Marcello Rota, and featuring artist Andrea Bocelli, whose illustrious career has moved audiences around the world. The concert will also incorporate traditional Saudi performing arts, including Ardah Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Khatwa, and Yanbaawi, distinctive regional expressions that combine rhythmic movement, music, and poetry, creating a dynamic musical experience that weaves together different traditions within a unified artistic presentation.
Commenting on the announcement, CEO of the Music Commission Paul Pacifico said: “The ‘Marvels of Saudi Orchestra’ concert in Rome is more than a milestone in our tour; it is an opportunity to share Saudi artistry with new audiences and to exchange creative ideas with some of the world’s finest talents.”
