
Arab League Council Backs Syria's Sovereignty and Reconstruction Efforts
The Council of the League of Arab States' 164th foreign ministers meeting reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic and emphasized the need for joint Arab action to help Syria address political, security, and economic challenges, thereby contributing to regional stability.
In its resolution, the council condemned repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, calling them a violation of Syria's sovereignty and a breach of international law. It reiterated the call for a full Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights to the 1967 line.
The council also affirmed its support for the Syrian government's efforts to combat terrorism and for the country's reconstruction. It urged the international community to assist in comprehensive reconstruction plans to facilitate the safe return of Syrian refugees.
The council welcomed the Arab role in advancing the political process and stressed the importance of continued coordination to find a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis and preserve the country's unity.
