
KACST, Maxar Sign Strategic Partnership to Enhance Saudi Arabia’s Space Capabilities
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Maxar Intelligence company signed a strategic partnership agreement to provide space data and direct access to satellites, contributing to supporting innovation in the space sector.
The agreement, signed with the leading American space solutions company during the official visit of U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to leverage technologies to support scientific research and promote development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by improving decision-making in urban planning, disaster management, and sustainable agriculture.
KACST Institute of Earth and Space Sciences general manager Dr. Majid Albahkali explained that the partnership with Maxar is a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s vision for the future economy. It will contribute to the development of a smarter infrastructure by utilizing advanced geospatial intelligence to serve government and commercial sectors. It will also provide new areas for investment in the space data sector and benefit from the latest space technologies to support sustainable development.
Maxar international government division general manager Anders Linder said the strategic partnership with KACST reflects both parties’ shared aspirations for geospatial information. He emphasized the company’s commitment to support its partners enhancing their capabilities in space technologies, noting that KACST was one of the early adopters of Maxar’s newest capabilities, and the company excited to continue shaping the future of geospatial technologies with it.
