“OncoClinic” Expands its Oncology Treatment System with Advanced Radiotherapy Service Now Treating Patients

OncoClinic, one of the leading healthcare entities specialized in diagnosing and treating various types of cancer in Riyadh, has expanded its specialized oncology care system with an advanced radiotherapy service that is now fully operational and treating patients.

Patients are already receiving radiotherapy at OncoClinic as part of individualized treatment plans developed by its multidisciplinary medical teams. The service forms part of OncoClinic’s comprehensive cancer care system, providing patients with access to advanced radiation treatment within the same integrated care environment.

The radiotherapy service utilizes advanced technologies that enable precise targeting of radiation doses to tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues and organs as much as possible, helping enhance treatment accuracy and the patient experience throughout their treatment journey.

The service includes comprehensive imaging systems that enable the medical team to accurately verify the patient’s position and the tumor’s location before each treatment session, in addition to the ability to perform CT scans inside the treatment room. This supports more precise tumor localization and helps direct radiation according to the treatment plan established for each case.

The service also enables radiation doses to be shaped and distributed according to the tumor’s size, location and nature, supporting the development of more precise treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs while helping protect the healthy tissues surrounding the targeted area.

The use of modern technologies in radiation therapy, alongside specialized medical and medical physics expertise, represents a fundamental element in advancing the quality of care provided to oncology patients. It supports the delivery of more precise and safer treatment while enhancing the patient experience throughout the treatment journey.

The operational radiotherapy service further advances OncoClinic’s vision to develop an integrated and specialized cancer care system, providing a range of diagnostic, treatment and supportive care services within an advanced medical environment under one roof and strengthening integration among the medical and technical specialties involved in cancer care.

Commenting on the service, Dr. Pedro De Marchi, Chief Medical Officer at OncoClinic, said: “Our radiotherapy service is now operational, with patients already receiving treatment using this advanced technology. This represents an important addition to the comprehensive cancer care we provide at OncoClinic, allowing us to offer patients another key treatment modality within an integrated oncology setting.”

Dr. De Marchi added: “To support the radiotherapy service, OncoClinic has introduced the Varian TrueBeam, which features advanced capabilities for precisely directing radiation at cancer cells while helping minimize radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissues and organs. The device can also deliver intensive radiation doses efficiently, which can help reduce treatment session times and enhance patient comfort.”

The clinics of OncoClinic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wholly owned by Al Faisaliah Group (AFG), operate in collaboration with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The clinics provide a comprehensive system for treating diverse types of cancer under one roof, including diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive care services, ensuring an integrated treatment experience for patients and their families in accordance with the highest international medical standards.
