ICAIRE Discusses Ethical Use of AI with Arab Countries

The International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), a UNESCO-affiliated institution in Riyadh, has called for aligning artificial intelligence (AI) and data use with ethical guidelines to build a more inclusive, sustainable, and peaceful world while fostering trust in its rapid technological development.

ICAIRE emphasized the need for clear standards and practical measures to ensure the effective application of AI ethics, enhance reliability, and mitigate potential risks. It urged relevant authorities to adopt these standards to guarantee the safe and equitable use of emerging technologies.

This call was made during a series of in-person and virtual meetings organized by ICAIRE, bringing together AI specialists and academics from Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Libya, and Palestine. The sessions were also attended by representatives from UNESCO, the Arab League, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization, the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as international AI experts and policymakers.

The discussions highlighted ICAIRE’s role as a cultural and knowledge bridge on AI ethics and as a leading platform for sharing expertise. The center continues to support the alignment of national policies with global frameworks, contributing to greater reliability of AI systems and enhancing countries’ readiness to adopt them responsibly.
