The Henry Jackson Society Hosts a Dialogue with the Secretary General of the Muslim World League
Dr. Al-Issa: The League speaks on behalf of Muslim peoples and has issued the most important contemporary Islamic document—“The Makkah Charter”.
Dr. AlIssa: Islam is best represented by its moderation, expressed through its major official institutions.
The Henry Jackson Society hosted a dialogue with His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and President of the Association of Muslim Scholars, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the Society’s headquarters in London.
During the extensive meeting, the dialogue emphasized that Islam is a religion that calls for dialogue and upholds the principles of mutual understanding and coexistence as central pillars for achieving peace and harmony among nations and peoples—especially among the diverse components of pluralistic societies.
Dr. Al-Issa praised the British Muslim community for its respect for the law, its support for social cohesion, and its active and positive contribution to the United Kingdom. These commendations are supported by documented reports held by the Muslim World League and by testimonies from senior UK officials whom the League has met.
He noted that the British Muslim component ranks among the top four (in Europe) in terms of size and, more recently, holds the leading position among Muslim minority communities in Western countries in both numbers and levels of participation in high-level state institutions.
The discussion also highlighted the vital role of the conscious family, effective education, and responsible media in promoting awareness, safeguarding minds, and combating negative and extremist ideologies.
His Excellency also commended the contents of two lectures delivered by King Charles on “Islam and the West” and “Islam and the Environment.” He shared that His Majesty had received him at Buckingham Palace for a private meeting, during which Dr. Al-Issa conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the scholars and thinkers of the Muslim world—represented under the umbrella of the Muslim World League—for the King’s insightful discussions on these topics and his neutral and sincere sentiments toward Islam, especially in light of the unjust and hostile campaigns led by ideological extremists against Islam in an era of rising Islamophobia.
Dr. Al-Issa reaffirmed that Islam is best represented by its message of moderation, articulated through its prominent official institutions. The Muslim World League, which speaks on behalf of the Muslim peoples, issued “The Makkah Charter”—the most important contemporary Islamic document, signed by over 1,200 muftis and scholars. The attendees were provided with a summary of its key provisions and were directed to receive copies of the declaration, which British Muslims—during their March 2023 conference in London—described as a constitutional-like religious charter that inspires and guides them, expressing the consensus of the ummah’s scholars under the League and originating from the sacred city of Makkah, beside the Holy Kaaba.
He further added that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation also represents Islam from the perspective of the member states of the Islamic world.
At the conclusion of the session, His Eminence answered a number of questions related to the League’s global initiatives and responsibilities.
