Llama 4 to Serve the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe from Dammam

In a major step that reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a global hub for artificial intelligence, Groq, in collaboration with Meta, has introduced the latest large language model in the region, leveraging its advanced infrastructure in Dammam.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, this move aligns with the Kingdom's strategic drive to enhance its digital capabilities and establish itself as a central player in future technologies across the region and beyond. This comes after Meta's exclusive release of its open-source AI models, Llama 4 Scout and Maverick, on GroqCloud in Saudi Arabia, which provides developers with full access to the latest generation of open-source models.
The release added that Llama 4 now serves users across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, enhancing access to advanced AI technologies with high-performance inference capabilities. This launch is a significant milestone in establishing Saudi Arabia as a leader in AI infrastructure, especially following the activation of the region's largest inference cluster in Dammam earlier this year in February.
Founder and CEO of Groq Jonathan Ross commented: "We built Groq to drive compute costs to zero, in collaboration with our partners. With Llama 4, we are delivering high-performance inference at unprecedented speed and minimal cost — without compromise."
Tariq Amin added: "Integrating Llama 4 with Groq's technology marks a major leap forward in Saudi Arabia's journey toward technological leadership."
At LEAP 2025, Groq announced a $1.5 billion investment to establish the world's largest AI inference center in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Aramco Digital. This initiative aims to scale Groq's infrastructure, expand GroqCloud services for developers, and process billions of tokens per day.
