AlUla Set to Host New Edition of AlUla Desert Blaze Race in August
AlUla Governorate is preparing to host the upcoming edition of the AlUla Desert Blaze race on August 15–16, 2025, with more than 500 runners from around the world expected to compete in one of the region's most challenging and visually striking desert races.
Set against AlUla’s breathtaking natural landscape, the event will take participants through rocky canyons, sand dunes, and verdant oases, offering a distinctive sporting experience that combines physical endurance with sweeping views of natural and historical landmarks. The race is open to runners of all levels—from professionals to beginners—across four categories: 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km (half marathon), and 42.2 km (full marathon), in a summer setting that promises both excitement and adventure.
Each route highlights AlUla's heritage and iconic landmarks. Runners in the 5 km, 10 km, and half-marathon races will begin at Hegra, the Kingdom's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, traversing a landscape rich in historical significance.
The full marathon (42.2 km) will also start at Hegra, guiding runners past the renowned Maraya Building—recognized as the world's largest mirror-clad structure and a symbol of AlUla's cultural and architectural transformation under its visionary development strategy.
