Arab Parliament Condemns Statements by Israeli Occupation Officials Calling for Annexing, Imposing Sovereignty on West Bank

Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi has strongly condemned and categorically rejected the dangerous statements made by officials in the Israeli occupation government, most recently those by the Israeli minister of justice, who explicitly called for the annexation of the West Bank and the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over it. He described the remarks as a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions, and a deliberate attempt to undermine all prospects for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and the end of the occupation.

Al-Yamahi reiterated that these statements reflect the expansionist colonial policy pursued by the occupation government, reaffirming his rejection of its blatant violations in the West Bank, including raids, arrests, the expansion of illegal settlements, increased military aggression, home demolitions, infrastructure destruction, and the forced displacement of civilians. He also denounced the escalating attacks by extremist settlers against civilians in the West Bank under the protection of occupation forces, coinciding with the genocide being carried out by the occupation in Gaza, aimed at eradicating all aspects of life and targeting Palestinian existence.

He renewed his call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council and the United Nations, to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and take urgent action to stop these systematic violations, hold the perpetrators accountable, provide international protection for the Palestinian people, and support their legitimate struggle to establish an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital. The speaker affirmed this as the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
