Arab States Broadcasting Union Revives Media Activities in Syria as Part of New Strategic Direction

The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), chaired by Saudi Arabia, has announced the revitalization of its media activities in Syria. The move underscores the union’s commitment to expanding its regional footprint and promoting Arab media integration by fostering new avenues for professional collaboration and investment with Syrian media institutions.
The decision was made during the union’s 113th Executive Council meeting, attended by representatives of member states. The council convened to discuss developments in joint media work and to review ASBU’s programs for the current year.
In his address at the meeting, ASBU President and CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi said the decision was inspired by the stance of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in supporting Syria’s reintegration into the Arab fold. “Today, at the Arab States Broadcasting Union, we continue the humanitarian path initiated by HRH through the media, which we believe acts as a bridge for communication, a vehicle for raising awareness, and a tool for building a collective Arab future that reflects the aspirations of our peoples and respects the fabric of our societies,” Al-Harthi stated.
The meeting also featured a detailed presentation of the union’s activities for the year, including news and programming exchanges, coverage of key regional and international events, and initiatives in training and media investment to create an ideal Arab media system.
