Music Commission Announces Inaugural 'Riyadh Music Week' This December
The Music Commission, one of the sector-specific commissions under the Ministry of Culture, is set to hold the first-ever Riyadh Music Week in partnership with MDLBeast and the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), according to a press release from the commission.
Riyadh Music Week will run from December 5 to 14, 2024, across various venues in Riyadh. This initiative will highlight the creative and commercial progression of the music sector in the Kingdom and foster dialogue with international stakeholders on music policy and development.
According to the release, Riyadh Music Week will include the Global Music Makers Summit, a new event that will bring together leaders and global policymakers from the music sector. The week will also highlight the traditional music community through the activation of small venues across the city, with live performances showcasing the diversity of local Saudi talent.
The release also highlighted that the calendar will also feature the Music Cities Convention and Awards, marking the first time this global event is held in the Middle East. "The Music Cities Convention is one of the largest international conferences focusing on the topics of music cities, music policy, and music tourism. This milestone solidifies Riyadh's position as a key global destination for music and arts," it stated.
Throughout the week's events, there will also be a variety of panel sessions, seminars, and workshops covering the latest developments in the global music scene. The event unites some of the key music moments in the Riyadh calendar, including XP Music Futures, SoundStorm, and the inaugural Billboard Arabia Music Awards.
The event offers a platform for local and international collaboration, celebrating Saudi music and showcasing regional talents. Riyadh Music Week will boost opportunities for both established and emerging artists and spotlight the new businesses emerging from the evolving music sector.
The hosting of the inaugural Riyadh Music Week by the Music Commission underscores its dedication to supporting local artists, offering a platform to display their talents, and bolstering the music sector.
