Fluminense Claims Victory at MAHD Intercontinental Football Championship
Brazilian club Fluminense emerged victorious in the inaugural MAHD Intercontinental Championship, a groundbreaking global event for young football players, defeating English giants Manchester City 2-1 in the final match held yesterday at the Mahd Sports Academy stadium in Riyadh.
Mahd Sports Academy CEO Abdullah Hammad presented the championship trophy and gold medals to the Fluminense players, and silver medals to Manchester City players.
Hammad expressed his pride in the success of the first edition of the championship, highlighting the high level of competition displayed by all participating teams.
He stressed that the event fulfilled its objectives of providing young players with valuable professional experience, and positioning the academy as a platform for hosting major sporting events, adding that this aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goal of elevating the Kingdom's sports sector and establishing the country as a global sports hub, as recently evidenced by the country's hosting the FIFA World Cup 2034™.
