Municipalities Ministry's 'Emerge' Platform Among Top Global Solutions at Smart City Awards
The organizing committee of the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 selected the National Platform for Emergency and Crisis Management (Emerge) -- developed by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in partnership with “iot squared” -- among the top global solutions nominated for the World Smart City Awards in the Energy and Environment category for 2025.
The nomination reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to develop smart cities and enhance the quality of life and environmental sustainability through innovative digital solutions that strengthen the readiness of Saudi cities to host major global events such as Expo Riyadh 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034, while highlighting the Kingdom's prominent presence in the international smart-city landscape.
Deputy Minister for Projects and Public Health Eng. Hassan Asiri stated that this achievement reaffirms the ministry's commitment to develop safe and resilient future cities that contribute to human well-being and environmental sustainability. He noted that the Emerge platform represents one of the smart municipal transformation projects aimed at enhancing emergency response efficiency and city preparedness. The platform will be showcased during the exhibition accompanying the congress, held in Barcelona from November 4 to 6.
