ZATCA Thwarts Methamphetamine Smuggling Attempt at Al-Batha Border Crossing

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Batha border crossing thwarted an attempt to smuggle 8.6 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in a truck entering the Kingdom.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that the drugs were seized after the truck underwent standard customs procedures and inspections using advanced security technologies. Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, resulting in the arrest of the four intended recipients inside the Kingdom.

Al-Harbi emphasized the authority's ongoing commitment to tightening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, standing firm against all smuggling attempts. This vigilance aligns with ZATCA's core strategy: enhancing the security and protection of society by reducing the smuggling of scourges like drugs and other prohibited items.

The spokesperson urged the public to help combat smuggling to protect both society and the national economy. Reports related to smuggling can be submitted confidentially via the designated security report number 1910, by email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or through the international number 009661910. A financial reward will be granted to anyone whose information proves accurate.
