Sand Rose: Artistic Masterpiece Deep in the Desert

Roses and flowers are not found only in gardens, green spaces, or on rooftops. Another kind of rose occurs naturally and is considered one of nature's wonders. Resembling a flower in its intricate details, it is made up of grains of sand, giving it the name "sand rose."
 These formations develop their striking appearance over decades as a result of intense heat, drought, and water evaporation. A series of chemical reactions involving grains of sand, gypsum, calcium sulfate, salts, and other minerals causes the grains to adhere and fuse together, forming sharp, shiny crystalline shapes and petals resembling roses. Despite their hardness and rigidity, sand roses can still break and crumble.
 The sand rose is a hard natural formation that develops beneath sand dunes at the level of surface water and takes different shapes and sizes. The most prominent is the rose shape, which usually takes on the color of the surrounding sand. Considered an artistic masterpiece and a precious natural treasure, it reflects the Creator's artistry in its formation. Other forms can also be found, some resembling mummies.
 The desert sand rose is known by several names. Unlike living organisms, including plants, it neither grows nor breathes. Other names include wild rose, desert rose, desert flower, and desert crystal.
