“Passion for Miniature Cars Unites Saudi Hobbyists”

Decades ago until today, a rare, real, priceless, hobby assembles humans from different places to collect and acquire car models. Such a hobby can open the paths for culture and society and affect the mind by strengthening the memory. This collection is an art interpreted with details into models, allowing hobbyists to shape their passion in reality. Despite the obstacles a wish comes true with the support of the National Portal for Hobbies "Hawi".

Surrounded by rare models and collectibles Abeer Hawari, the leader of the Saudi Miniature Car Club, devotes her efforts to raising awareness about this unique hobby. The club operates under the umbrella “Hawi.”

The Quality of Life Program launched “Hawi” in October 2022, bringing together 12 governmental entities to provide support and empowerment for hobbyists of all kinds. "Hawi" aims to foster a vibrant environment where citizens and residents can engage in a wide range of hobbies. Through “Hawi" platform, hobbyists have no limitations.

Hawari: A Hobby is Discovered through Passion

Abeer believes that hobbies are passions that grow over time. For her, this passion evolves into a form of artistic mastery, often leading to hours spent immersed in the hobby, losing track of time while fulfilling the joy and excitement of collecting miniature cars.

In 2021, Abeer founded the Saudi Miniature Car Club through “Hawi,” to foster this unique hobby and promote the culture of collecting miniature cars among enthusiasts.

Abeer never imagined that many people shared her passion for this rare hobby. The club has grown to over 24 members in a relatively short time. While this number might seem small to some. Thanks to “Hawi,” these hobbyists, once isolated, have now connected and formed a community through the club.

Distance Didn’t Deter the Enthusiasts

The geographical distance hasn’t dampened members` enthusiasm. In a short period, they successfully formed the club and began interacting with each other, despite not having a physical meeting space.

Together, the club members own more than 10,000 miniature cars, with the collection continuously growing. According to Abeer, some members possess rare, limited-edition models that come with certificates of authenticity from the manufacturers. Moving forward, the club aspires to expand its collection and increase membership.

In the coming months, Abeer plans to organize a free public event where people can visit the club by registering via the club’s page on “Hawi,” a move aimed at promoting the hobby and attracting new members.

“Hawi”: Bringing Hobbyists Together

In two years, “Hawi” has successfully unified hobbyist communities across the Kingdom, providing several services to enthusiasts through dedicated pages. "Hawi" has made it easier for hobbyists to pursue their passions by clarifying regulations and offering the tools needed to run their clubs.

It is worth noting that the hobbies sector in Saudi Arabia has seen significant transformation since the launch of Vision 2030, with the Quality of Life Program taking charge of the sector’s development. The program has introduced several initiatives to enhance and support hobbies, aligning with Vision 2030’s goals of fostering a vibrant society and offering more choices that promote positive lifestyles.

Since the official launch of “Hawi,” the of registered hobby clubs has doubled, exceeding now 1,244 clubs representing more than 219 hobbies. The portal boasts over 70,861 registered members of all ages, and more than 1,562 events have been organized.
