Red Sea Film Festival Returns to Historic Jeddah with Theme ‘New Home of Film’
The Red Sea International Film Festival is preparing for the launch of its fourth edition in December, embracing the theme "The New Home of Film," signifying the festival's return to Historic Jeddah ‘Al-Balad.’
The theme symbolizes the festival's exploration through a diverse array of films exploring both the literal and metaphorical facets of the homeland. The festival hosted the global premiere of "The Tale of Daye’s Family" as the opening night gala film, a collaborative Egyptian-Saudi production that intricately weaves together themes of tolerance, ambition, and the transformative power of music.
The festival curated 16 films for its official competition, to be evaluated by the festival's international jury.
"To a Land Unknown" by Mahdi Fleifel will have its premiere in the Middle East and North Africa region. Other notable premieres include "Sima’s Song" by Afghan filmmaker Roya Sadat, "Superboys of Malegaon" by Indian director Reema Kagti, and "To Kill a Mongolian Horse" by Xiaoxuan Jiang.
The festival revealed the official trailer for the biopic "Better Man" about British singer Robbie Williams, directed, co-written, and co-produced by Michael Gracey. The program also includes "Modi, Three Days on the Wing of Madness," the second film directed by Johnny Depp depicting the life of the legendary Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
This year's festival aims to captivate young audiences and film-loving families with a selection of films, including the festival's first musical, "Sukkar" directed by Tamer Mahdy, and the animated film "Panda Bear in Africa" by Richard Claus and Karsten Kiilerich.
