Saudi Social Responsibility Initiatives Exceed SAR5 Billion, Boost Development Impact
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing rapid expansion in the adoption of social responsibility as a driver of sustainable development and stronger partnerships among public, private, and non-profit sectors, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which has elevated the field as an enabler of economic and social development and a pathway for enhancing the private sector's contribution to society, the environment, and the economy.
In this context, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development is leading regulatory and developmental efforts to advance the Kingdom's social responsibility ecosystem by developing frameworks and national initiatives that institutionalize these practices and strengthen the role of companies and institutions as development partners in achieving sustainable development.
International and local indicators reflect the Kingdom's progress in this field, ranking 16th globally on the Social Responsibility Index in the 2024 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. More than 2,145 companies are now registered on the ministry's National Platform for Social Responsibility (NPSR), and the total value of initiatives has surpassed SAR5 billion, highlighting the expansion of community projects and the private sector's growing contribution to development.
The NPSR contributes to empowering the private sector and reinforcing its position as a leading global model in this field. It serves as a strategic platform where the roles of the public, private, and non-profit sectors converge, enabling companies to make a tangible development impact by directing their initiatives toward national priorities in alignment with sustainable development goals and Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
The national platform operates through a clear methodology based on strategic pillars, promoting a culture of social responsibility in the business sector, enabling companies to build sustainable partnerships with lasting impact, and coordinating efforts to direct contributions toward priority development projects.
The percentage of major companies adopting social responsibility programs has risen to 72%, demonstrating growing institutional awareness and the integration of social responsibility into core corporate practices, supporting community initiatives and promoting economic and social development.
The designation of March 23 each year as Social Responsibility Day in the Kingdom marks a national milestone to raise awareness of the field's importance and encourage various entities to adopt community initiatives that advance sustainable development and boost partnerships across sectors.
On this occasion, the ministry launched an awareness campaign under the slogan "We Commit to Our Social Responsibility" to highlight social responsibility as a sustainable institutional practice, emphasize the role of the private sector in supporting development and community initiatives, foster integration among sectors, and encourage companies to undertake high-impact initiatives.
As part of this national momentum, Riyadh is preparing to host the second edition of the Global CSR Forum from October 5 to 6, 2026, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the success of the first edition held in October 2024 under the theme "From Commitment to Impact."
The forum is expected to serve as an international platform for exchanging expertise and experiences in social responsibility, enhancing cooperation among public, private, and non-profit sectors, and showcasing national and international approaches to developing social responsibility initiatives and maximizing their impact.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development continues to advance the Kingdom's social responsibility ecosystem by strengthening partnerships with the private and non-profit sectors and expanding development initiatives that promote sustainable development and improve quality of life.
