Saudi Arabia Records Unprecedented Air Traffic During 1446 AH Hajj Season

Saudi Arabia’s airspace recorded unprecedented air traffic figures during the 1446 AH Hajj season, marking a milestone that reflects the scale of the integrated efforts made to facilitate the movement of pilgrims.

This exceptional performance is the result of the generous support provided by the Saudi leadership to ensure a safe and seamless Hajj experience from arrival to departure, reaffirming the Kingdom’s leading role in serving pilgrims.

The Saudi Air Navigation Services company played a pivotal role among the national sectors involved in serving pilgrims, leveraging its human and technical resources to ensure safe and smooth air traffic operations.

These efforts culminated in the management of over 140,000 domestic and international air traffic movements during the arrival and departure phases, achieving an 8% growth rate compared to the year before.

During the arrival phase from Dhu Al-Qidah 1 to Dhu Al-Hijjah 8, 1446 AH, a total of 74,902 air movements were recorded, marking an increase of 15% over the same period the year before. In the departure phase, from Dhu Al-Hijjah 23 to Muharram 15, 1447 AH, 66,072 air movements took place, reflecting a 2% growth rate.

On Dhu Al-Hijjah 2, 1446 AH alone, a record-breaking 2,338 air movements were recorded, marking a 4% increase compared to the same day of the previous year.

The company provided its air navigation services to 213 airlines, indicating an expansion of international partnerships and diversity in destinations crossing Saudi airspace during the season.

This high-performance outcome directly reflects the advanced readiness of Saudi Arabia’s air navigation sector, which serves as a cornerstone for ensuring the smooth and efficient management of air traffic, especially during peak operational seasons.
