LPTC Explores Future of Editing and Design in AI Era

The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission (LPTC) held an open virtual meeting titled "Editing and Design Using Artificial Intelligence," bringing together specialists and stakeholders to discuss the transformation of content creation and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in editing, writing, and publishing.

The meeting highlighted the rapid changes taking place in the content creation and publishing sectors, noting that AI has accelerated production processes by integrating the traditional stages of planning, editing, proofreading, and design into more interconnected workflows completed in shorter timeframes. Participants emphasized that these technologies are shifting the focus of professionals toward enhancing content quality, creativity, and originality rather than spending time on repetitive tasks.

The discussions also addressed AI's ability to produce content in multiple formats, including audiobooks, summaries, and visual materials tailored to different platforms and languages. These capabilities expand opportunities for creators and publishers to reach wider audiences.

The meeting reviewed the skills required for professionals to adapt to advances in AI technologies, stressing the importance of mastering diverse digital tools rather than relying on a single application. It also highlighted the need to develop expertise in writing precise prompts to achieve professional results that preserve brand identity, in addition to strengthening capabilities in reviewing and verifying information generated by AI systems.

Participants also discussed key legal and ethical challenges associated with AI, particularly intellectual property and copyright concerns amid rapid technological developments. They emphasized the importance of understanding cultural and social contexts, maintaining human oversight, and ensuring transparency by disclosing the use of AI-generated content to audiences to preserve credibility and trust.
