Makkah Municipality Clears Over 266,000 Tons of Waste in December in Comprehensive Cleanup

 The Holy Makkah Municipality has continued to intensify its comprehensive cleaning and sanitation operations, clearing over 266,000 tons of waste in December.

 The efforts are part of ongoing plans to enhance the urban landscape, improve environmental quality, and raise service levels for residents and visitors across Makkah. Special focus has been placed on the central area, which experiences heavy daily activity.

 Between December 1 and 31, the municipality said its field teams carried out extensive campaigns to remove various types of waste, alongside sweeping, washing, and maintenance works. These efforts were implemented within an integrated plan aimed at promoting public cleanliness and improving the urban environment.

 The total volume of waste removed during this period reached 266,235.7 tons, the municipality said. This included 93,489.8 tons of municipal waste and 172,745.9 tons of construction and demolition debris, reflecting the scale of daily efforts to maintain the holy city’s cleanliness.

 The municipality emphasized that its field teams operate around the clock under well-prepared operational plans to ensure service continuity and enhance performance efficiency. These ongoing efforts contribute directly to environmental sustainability, address visual pollution, and improve the urban landscape, positively impacting overall quality of life in the holy capital.

 The municipality reaffirmed its commitment to delivering integrated municipal services that meet the expectations of residents and visitors, in line with best practices and standards in public cleanliness and waste management.
