Jazan Emerges as Key Agricultural Hub for Tropical Fruits

Jazan Region, blessed with fertile soil and year-round water resources from its valleys, stands out as a prominent agricultural hub in the Kingdom, uniquely suited for sustainable farming practices. This natural abundance significantly enhances food security and bolsters the region's local economy.
 Central to Jazan's agricultural success is its thriving tropical fruit cultivation, which has become a hallmark of high productivity. The region's annual yield of these fruits reaches approximately 53,211 tons, presenting significant opportunities for further agricultural development.
 The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture's initiatives to modernize farming techniques and introduce new fruit varieties from leading global producers have diversified and improved crop quality. Consequently, Jazan has solidified its position as a leading tropical fruit-producing region, a testament to the state's generous support for local farmers in this vital sector.
 Growing awareness of agriculture's importance has led to an increase in the region's farming population. Currently, over 19,110 farmers cultivate mangoes, managing over one million trees with an annual production of approximately 65,000 tons.
 Around 345 farmers own more than 520,000 fig trees, yielding over 2,600 tons annually, while over 160 farmers manage more than 6,000 guava trees, producing about 60 tons per year.
 Around 300 farmers own over 677,000 papaya trees, with an annual output exceeding 34,000 tons, and 310 farmers cultivate about 1.12 million banana trees, producing around 17,000 tons annually. Over 110 farmers participate in the cultivation of more than 4,000 custard apple (quince) trees, yielding over 20 tons annually.
 Jazan Region annually celebrates its tropical fruit harvest with a dedicated festival, serving as a vital platform to showcase and promote its agricultural products domestically and internationally. This event reinforces Jazan's status as a symbol of successful agricultural production, making it a significant contributor to national food security, strengthening the economy, and highlighting the Kingdom's vision for a prosperous agricultural future.
