Saudi Arabia Targets Positive World Cup Start as Players Express Full Confidence
Saudi national team players Abdullah Al-Khaibari and Moteb Al-Harbi have expressed confidence in the Green Falcons’ readiness for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, ahead of their opening Group H encounter against Uruguay, emphasizing the squad’s determination to make a positive start to the tournament.
Speaking to the media during today’s training session, Al-Khaibari said the players have been working intensively with head coach Georgios Donis through tactical meetings and daily training sessions to fully understand his philosophy and playing style. He noted that Donis’ prior knowledge of Saudi football and its players has helped accelerate the team’s adaptation and cohesion.
Al-Khaibari added that every coach brings a unique approach and footballing philosophy, stressing that the players are fully focused on working under Donis, while acknowledging the valuable work previously carried out by former head coach Hervé Renard.
He also praised the medical staff for their use of advanced recovery methods and highlighted the positive impact of the continued development of the Saudi Pro League, which he said has benefited the national team and was evident in recent friendly matches.
Al-Harbi affirmed that the squad has entered the final phase of preparations with complete focus and discipline. He explained that the players continue to improve from match to match under the guidance of the coaching staff and are fully aware of the responsibility that comes with representing the Kingdom on the world stage.
