
Beyond Physics: Delegates Discover Saudi Culture, Heritage at APhO 2025
The international delegations participating in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2025, hosted by Saudi Arabia in Dhahran from May 4 to 12, enjoyed a dynamic schedule filled with scientific competitions, cultural activities, educational events, and entertainment. This enriching experience brought together 240 students from 30 countries and 110 international physics specialists.
Beyond scientific competitions, the APhO program featured educational and cultural visits showcasing Saudi Arabia's rich heritage and advancements, while also promoting global youth communication and cultural exchange.
Donning Saudi attire as a sign of respect, participating delegations enjoyed the Kingdom's hospitality, savored Saudi cuisine, and engaged in interactive experiences that fostered familiarity and cultural connection.
This Asian Physics Olympiad holds special significance as it marks the competition's 25th anniversary. For over two decades, it has united bright young minds from across nations, fostering scientific competition and promoting understanding among younger generations.
The final results of the APhO competitions, organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), will be announced during the closing ceremony on May 11 at KFUPM in Dhahran.
