SDAIA Showcases Saudi Arabia’s Capacity Building Experience in AI and Data at UNESCO Conference
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) showcased the Kingdom’s efforts in national capacity-building in data and artificial intelligence during its participation in the UNESCO Conference on Capacity Building on AI and Digital Transformation in the Public Sector, recently held in Paris.
SDAIA highlighted its role in formulating national strategies and implementing advanced training programs and specialized initiatives aimed at upskilling public sector employees and enhancing the readiness of national talents for the next phase of the Kingdom’s digital transformation.
During a panel discussion on "Developing National Strategies for Digital Capacity Building," General Supervisor of SDAIA's Capacity Building Sector Dr. Ahmed Alghamdi highlighted that SDAIA's advanced training programs and targeted initiatives are enhancing national digital and technological competencies, aligning directly with the Human Capability Development Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030.
Alghamdi noted that these efforts also align with UNESCO’s capacity-building priorities, which focus on institutional and individual capability enhancement, bridging the digital divide, and supporting vocational training in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.
The session explored ways to motivate public sector employees to improve their digital skills by linking vocational training to career advancement paths and aligning national strategies with institutional incentives. It also reviewed best practices and international experiences in the field.
SDAIA’s participation in the conference reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence in international forums related to data and AI, and to underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enabling national capabilities in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
