Weqaya Urges Outbound Travelers to Follow Health Guidelines Amid Summer Travel Season
The Public Health Authority (Weqaya) has urged travelers leaving the Kingdom to adhere to health and preventive guidelines during travel, particularly during the summer season, which sees increased travel and a higher likelihood of exposure to infectious diseases.
The authority monitors global epidemiological developments in coordination with international health organizations, including reported cases of Hantavirus, Ebola, Yellow Fever, and seasonal influenza, to enhance public health readiness and raise traveler awareness.
Weqaya stressed the importance of checking health conditions at travel destinations before departure and reviewing vaccination requirements, most notably the Yellow Fever vaccine when traveling to endemic areas.
Travelers are advised to avoid contact with symptomatic individuals and wild animals, maintain personal hygiene, ensure food and water safety, and use mosquito repellents.
Weqaya recommended travelers seek medical attention upon the onset of symptoms during or after travel and inform healthcare providers of their travel history to facilitate prompt diagnosis.
