Wicker Crafting Showcases Cultural Heritage within Hail House Pavilion

The traditional wicker (Al-Khoos) crafting pavilions attracted the attention of many visitors during the fourth edition of the Hail House events organized by Aja Park. Both visitors and tourists were captivated by these pavilions, which showcased an important aspect of cultural heritage and highlighted the skills and artistry of ancestors who integrated this craft into their daily lives.

Wicker crafting primarily utilizes palm fronds to create a variety of items, including bags, mats, brooms, and more. The process involves weaving dry fronds that have been cut, washed, and dried. These fronds are bundled together and soaked in water until they soften. Once prepared, they are sewn together, with limbs defined and thorns removed, making them ready for painting and the production of various tools.

Wicker products can be found in shops and traditional markets throughout the region, and many residents of Hail Region continue to use these items regularly.
