KSrelief Establishes New Shelter Camp for Returning Families in Gaza City
In response to the urgent humanitarian needs on the ground in the Gaza Strip, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) established yesterday a new shelter camp in Gaza City to accommodate families returning from forced displacement in the central and southern parts of the Strip after their homes were completely destroyed by extensive devastation. The initiative is part of the Saudi Popular Campaign to Support the Palestinian People in the Gaza Strip.
The camp was set up in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, one of the areas most severely affected in Gaza City. Residents have returned to their devastated neighborhoods amid the absence of adequate housing and basic infrastructure, making the provision of safe shelter an urgent humanitarian priority.
The Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, KSrelief's implementing partner in the Gaza Strip, supervised the field implementation of the camp and distributed food baskets to returning families. This support contributed to stabilizing families during the initial phase of their return and helped address the challenging living conditions.
The significance of this intervention extends beyond shelter provision, as it enables families to remain in their original areas and strengthens their ability to endure despite the scale of destruction. It also helps preserve their dignity and alleviates the hardships associated with displacement.
Beneficiary families expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and people, for the humanitarian assistance provided through King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. They noted that these relief efforts restored a sense of safety after the ordeal of displacement and supported their ability to recover.
These efforts form part of a series of integrated humanitarian interventions implemented by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to stand alongside the brotherly Palestinian people during times of crisis and hardship.
