AlUla Releases First Annual Sustainability Report

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has unveiled its inaugural Annual Sustainability Report, which underscores the commission's commitment to responsible development, focusing on environmental, cultural, social, and economic sustainability.
The report emphasizes the commission's transparency and its activity's alignment with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, Vision 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It highlights key achievements and initiatives that lay the foundation for AlUla's sustainable future.
According to the report, the commission raised AlUla’s heritage sustainability index to 75% and drove 96% visitor satisfaction rate across sites.
RCU has provided 747 university scholarships in 117 international institutions and achieved a 90% community satisfaction rate.
The commission has created over 6,000 jobs in tourism-related sectors and over 1,500 jobs in tourism itself.
The commission has been pursuing climate neutrality through green mobility initiatives, converting agricultural waste into fertilizer, expanding water distribution networks (95% coverage), and planting over 111,000 trees in protected areas.
RCU actively seeks partnerships at local and global levels to pursue innovative sustainability solutions. Current partners include the ministries of economy and environment, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), UNESCO, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and the World Bank.
