Civil Defense Urges Caution as Thunderstorms Forecast across Several Regions
The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the public to exercise caution and remain in safe places as thunderstorms are forecast to continue across several regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from Tuesday through Saturday.
The directorate called on the public to stay away from valleys and areas prone to flash floods, refrain from swimming in them, and follow instructions issued through various media outlets and social media platforms.
It said Makkah Region is forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, potentially causing flash floods and accompanied by hail and strong downdrafts stirring up dust and sand. The affected areas include Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, Al-Lith, Al-Qunfudhah, Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat.
The directorate noted that moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecast for Madinah, Jazan, Aseer, and Al-Baha regions, with possible flash floods, hail, and strong downdrafts stirring up dust and sand. Najran Region is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
