KSrelief Launches Volunteer Medical Program in Neurosurgery at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in collaboration with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), has launched a volunteer medical program in neurosurgery at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden Governorate. The program is conducted by highly skilled medical professionals from Saudi Arabia.
The volunteer medical program, initiated in April 2024, covers multiple medical specialties, including pediatric cardiac surgery and catheterization, otolaryngology, open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, urology, physical therapy, and cosmetic, burn, and deformity surgeries. These efforts aim to address the humanitarian needs across all Yemeni governorates.
The program was launched due to the hospital's readiness and advanced facilities following its operational development by SDRPY. Since January 2023, the hospital has handled approximately two million medical consultations. Spanning 20,000 square meters, it is equipped with 270 beds, 14 specialized clinics, and a heart center, all supported by state-of-the-art medical equipment and technologies.
SDRPY has implemented several projects and initiatives to bolster Yemen's healthcare sector. These efforts include constructing, equipping, rehabilitating, and operating hospitals and medical centers, as well as enhancing the capacities of medical staff. To date, SDRPY has carried out 263 developmental projects and initiatives across eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, capacity building and support for the Yemeni government, and developmental programs.
