Saudi Arabia Signs Tripartite MoU to Localize Veterinary Vaccine Production

Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour Almushaiti witnessed the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing the localization and production of veterinary vaccines in the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed by the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, AniVax, and Boehringer Ingelheim, a global leader in veterinary solutions and disease prevention.
The MoU seeks to strengthen cooperation and leverage international expertise to support the development of the Kingdom's veterinary vaccine industry in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing ceremony was held at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, marking the global company's participation in efforts to localize and enhance veterinary vaccine production in the Kingdom. The event was attended by ministry officials and sector representatives.
The agreement aims to enhance opportunities for local manufacturing of veterinary vaccines and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge in combating animal diseases. Areas of cooperation include establishing a national antigen bank covering local and regional strains, as well as supporting research and development through advanced research activities conducted in cooperation with the ministry and local partners.
The partnership will also explore including pre-pandemic vaccines and the antigen bank within the Kingdom's strategic reserves, assess market demand for vaccines, and study the development and localization of other vaccines identified as national priorities.
Additional areas of cooperation include technical and training programs for Saudi professionals to benefit from global expertise in disease prevention and control. The partnership will also involve conducting field trials, exchanging epidemiological data, developing awareness campaigns, and improving access to high-quality diagnostic tools.
