KSrelief Lays Foundation Stone for Construction of 200 Housing Units for Flood-Affected Families in Somalia
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has laid the foundation stone for a project to construct 200 housing units for families affected by floods in Jubaland State of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The ceremony was attended by Jubaland State's Minister of Humanitarian and Disaster Management Abdirahman Mohamed Dhiriq, several officials, and KSrelief's Africa Office Regional Director Yazeed Abdullah.
Under the project, 200 housing units will be built for flood-affected families who lost their homes, along with the provision of health and education facilities, the establishment of basic water and road infrastructure for beneficiaries, and the implementation of tree-planting activities within the project site to support environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to strengthen social stability in Somalia's most vulnerable areas.
The minister expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, for its humanitarian and relief assistance to Somalia. He affirmed that the project is the first of its kind in the country, offering a sustainable housing solution for affected families, noting that the recent floods required urgent interventions to improve the living conditions of hundreds of households.
This initiative is part of the humanitarian and relief projects provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Somali people and enhance the resilience of local communities in the face of crises and natural disasters.
