Makkah Route Initiative Streamlines Entry for Bangladeshi Pilgrims with AI Mobile Counters

The Makkah Route Initiative has facilitated entry procedures for Hajj pilgrims at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh, utilizing advanced mobile counters to streamline the journey. Now in its eighth year, this Ministry of Interior initiative, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030, allows pilgrims to complete all entry requirements in their home country, ensuring a seamless arrival in the Kingdom.

The mobile counters leverage artificial intelligence to capture biometric data, facial photographs, and passport information, effectively eliminating waiting times. These high-tech units are specifically designed to assist the elderly and pilgrims with disabilities, providing a secure and dignified experience.

Supported by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the initiative is currently operational across 17 international ports, including terminals in Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Türkiye, Côte d'Ivoire, and the Maldives. This year marks a significant expansion of the initiative, with Senegal and Brunei Darussalam joining the program for the first time.

By harnessing cutting-edge technology and data-driven solutions, the Kingdom continues to enhance the quality of Hajj services, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to the comfort and safety of the pilgrims from their departure until their safe return home.
