The Holy Kaaba Staircase: A Testament to Enduring Care, Advanced Engineering
The staircase of the Holy Kaaba represents a truly unique and integral piece, having been a silent witness to the washing of the Holy Kaaba for the past 25 years. It remains a constant fixture in every scene of dedicated care given to the holiest place on earth, the Kaaba.
The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque detailed the specifications of this remarkable staircase, which was introduced in 2000. It is equipped with 24 batteries that power its operations. At its apex, a dedicated platform provides illumination for the interior of the Holy Kaaba. Additionally, it features central air conditioning vents to cool the Kaaba's interior, along with three tanks—one for air conditioning water, another specifically for washing the Holy Kaaba, and a third for wastewater.
The authority confirmed its commitment to integrating advanced technologies into all components related to the Kaaba. The staircase itself is crafted from the finest teak wood, measuring 5 meters and 65 cm in length, 4 meters and 80 cm in height, and 1 meter and 88 cm in width, with a substantial weight of 6,500 kilograms. This meticulous attention to detail and technology stems from the authority's unwavering commitment to the directives of the wise leadership, ensuring the highest standards of care for the Holy Kaaba.
