King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority Marks Green Initiative with Three Million Trees
The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority is actively working to protect the environment and restore ecological balance within the reserve. This effort coincides with the second anniversary of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI), which was launched in 2021 by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the SGI. The initiative aims to unite community efforts in implementing effective and measurable actions for environmental protection, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the Kingdom. These efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
To mark the occasion, the authority launched field initiatives, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation programs. These efforts have restored over 700,000 hectares of land, planted three million trees, and distributed four tons of seeds with the help of more than 11,000 volunteers.
The authority implemented measures to protect vegetation cover from vehicle damage, educated the community about the importance of restoring vegetation and safeguarding the environment, and promoted land sustainability to create safe habitats for wildlife. Additionally, it shared awareness messages with local communities about the impacts and seriousness of logging practices.
