GCC Secretary-General Urges Continued International Support for UNRWA

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today.
 During the meeting, Albudaiwi stressed the importance of continued international community support for UNRWA, particularly as the discussion focused on the latest developments in the humanitarian and relief situation in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and refugee camps, in light of the unprecedented deterioration of conditions.
 He also reiterated the GCC states' supportive and firm stance on mobilizing all regional and international efforts to deliver humanitarian and relief aid to the brotherly Palestinian people. He emphasized the need for unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance through all crossings and called for an end to the Israeli occupation forces' violations of UNRWA centers and aid distribution points.
 For his part, Lazzarini expressed his deep appreciation for the significant efforts and contributions of the GCC states in supporting UNRWA as it addresses the growing challenges faced by the brotherly Palestinian people.
