Aseer's Al-Yanfa Heritage Village Revives Cultural Tourism with Summer Festivities

Al-Yanfa Heritage Village, located 40 kilometers southwest of Abha in Aseer Region, continues to welcome daily visitors from across Saudi Arabia and abroad as part of its summer tourism season, offering a rich lineup of cultural, traditional, and entertainment programs framed by scenic mountain rains.
Spanning over 121,000 square meters, the village features around 400 tightly clustered stone houses across 16 historic quarters, multi-story palaces, and six ancient mosques built into the rugged mountainsides. Its architecture includes 36 subterranean stone passageways built beneath residences to connect neighborhoods and ease pedestrian movement.
The village also showcases advanced historic engineering, including dozens of ancient wells, seven adjacent rock-hewn wells connected by distribution canals, and a 160-meter rock-cut aqueduct feeding terraced farms. Community heritage is further reflected in 50 rock-carved grain silos and the traditional "community house," which historically stored collective harvests to support families in need and welcome traveling guests.
With seasonal festivities running through August 31, the two-month cultural program is projected to attract more than 55,000 visitors, highlighting Aseer's heritage destinations and preserving the region's unique cultural and architectural identity.
