First Quarter Moon of Shaban Observed in Northern Borders Region
The first quarter moon of Shaban was observed yesterday in the skies of the Northern Borders Region, with its right half illuminated in a stunning astronomical display that captivated astronomy enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Astrophotography specialist Adnan Al-Ramdoun said that this phase of the moon offers an ideal opportunity to observe its surface details. The sunlight casts shadows on the lunar craters and terrain, enhancing the clarity and vividness of observations through telescopes and binoculars.
He added: "The skies of the Northern Borders Region are distinguished by low light pollution, which creates an ideal environment for observing various astronomical phenomena, including the moon's phases, planetary movements, and stars. This makes the region a popular destination for enthusiasts and astrophotographers eager to capture these rare moments."
The first quarter phase occurs when the moon completes a quarter of its orbit around Earth, with half of its surface illuminated. This phase continues until the moon transitions into the waxing gibbous phase in the coming days.
