The Muslim World League Launches the Largest Partnerships Platform in Islamabad to Support Girls' Education in Muslim Communities
Under the patronage of His Excellency, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, and led by the Muslim World League, the Largest Partnerships platform is being launched in Islamabad. This initiative aims to foster the widest international partnerships to support girls' education in Muslim communities, through collaborations with UN agencies, governmental bodies, and both civil Islamic and international organizations.
This initiative is part of the effort to implement the provisions of Article 25 of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Document, as well as Articles 22 and 23 of the "Building Bridges Between Islamic Madhabs" Document. These documents were endorsed under the generous patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It also seeks to advance the decisions of OIC member states related to these documents, in addition to the MOU signed between His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the MOU signed between the Secretary General of the Islamic Fiqh Academy and the Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, both signed in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on 7/9/1445 AH.
The International Partnerships Platform for Education in Muslim Societies is set to be launched during the World Conference titled "Girls' Education in Muslim Societies: Challenges and Opportunities". This event, held in collaboration between the Prime Minister's Office of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Muslim World League, will take place on January 11-12, 2025. It will feature broad international participation, bringing together representatives from UN organizations, governments, Islamic institutions, senior religious, intellectual, and media leaders, as well as civil society activists from across the globe.
The conference reflects the Muslim World League's sense of responsibility towards the Muslim peoples and their path to progress. It aims to promote girls' education in line with the true Islamic principles, address the obstacles hindering it, and challenge misconceptions surrounding it.
The conference also sends a clear Islamic message to the world, emphasizing that Islam, as a religion of knowledge, civilization, and noble values, fully supports all laws and practices—both professional and legitimate—that enable girls to receive an education. It also asserts that any legislation or practices by "individuals or groups" that hinder girls' education are contrary to Islam, and the teachings of Islam are unequivocally opposed to such actions.
The conference will launch initiatives and develop strategies to address challenges and seize opportunities for advancing girls' education in Muslim societies. This will empower women to fully play their rightful and legitimate role in the development of their communities across various sectors, in alignment with the Islamic principles outlined in the articles of the two aforementioned documents, which the Muslim World League is committed to promoting their implementation.
