WSIS Awards SDAIA Certificate of Excellence for Organizing AI Olympiad

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2025 awarded the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) a Certificate of Excellence for organizing the first global edition of the International AI Olympiad (IAIO).

The IAIO was recognized as an outstanding project in Category 7 (E-Science) during the WSIS Prizes 2025 award ceremony, held on the sidelines of the AI for Good Summit in Geneva held July 8 to 11.

This recognition highlights SDAIA’s efforts to foster innovation and develop national and international capacities in artificial intelligence (AI) through impactful initiatives that help build a skilled generation of creators and innovators and prepare future leaders in technology and programming.

Projects awarded the Certificate of Excellence represent only 9% of all entries submitted to the annual WSIS Prizes, organized by the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU), with participation from over 194 countries, underscoring the level of global competition.

The achievement reflects the Kingdom’s advanced position in adopting and developing AI technologies, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to build an innovative and sustainable digital economy and establish the Kingdom as a global hub for advanced technology innovation.
