The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture secured an Excellence Certificate at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS+20) 2025, marking a significant achievement in the E-Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence category.
Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Almushaiti received the award on Monday in Geneva, following the ministry's project advancement to the final stage as one of the top five projects in E-Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence. The Saudi project competed against more than 360 international projects.
The recognition took place during the high-level WSIS+20 2025 event held in Geneva July 7-11, hosted and organized by the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Swiss Confederation, with participation from the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The event represents the largest annual gathering of the global information and communication technology (ICT) community for development.
The ministry's project was chosen for fulfilling the technical requirements and key criteria that qualified it for the certificate. These included alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the strategic use of artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver sustainable, impactful solutions for beneficiaries.
Eng. Almushaiti highlighted that receiving this global certificate demonstrates the unwavering support of Saudi Arabia's leadership for the environment, water, and agriculture sectors. He noted that the award reflects the Kingdom's commitment to innovation and sustainable digital transformation, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
Almushaiti affirmed that the Kingdom has positioned itself among the world's leading nations in embracing innovation and integrating modern technologies across key sectors, especially in the environment, water, and agriculture. He emphasized that this achievement reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to harnessing digital solutions to promote sustainable environmental development and safeguard natural resources, reinforcing its role as a global model for using technology to benefit both people and the environment.
The award was granted in recognition of the ministry's smart digital system for livestock health. The system delivers an innovative user experience and precise data that supports better decision-making and helps the ministry tackle environmental and agricultural challenges more effectively.
The ministry successfully aligned its digital project with the SDGs by utilizing modern technologies and smart digital platforms to deliver comprehensive and effective services and solutions.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture ranks among the most recognized government entities in this category, having earned first place in 2019, 2022, and 2023. It has also been awarded more than six international Certificates of Excellence across e-government, agriculture, and environmental fields.
