Film Commission Announces Holding of International Film Criticism Conference in Riyadh on November 6-10

The Film Commission announced that Riyadh will host the International Film Criticism Conference under the theme "Sound in Cinema." The November 6 to 10 conference aims to enrich the field of film criticism both nationally and internationally by exploring a wide range of related concepts and applications.

The event will attract a variety of specialists and individuals interested in film criticism and culture. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance national, regional, and international engagement in film criticism, which is a crucial aspect of the film industry.

In its second edition, the conference will feature various creative discussions, including sessions that examine critical issues regarding the concept of sound design in cinema and its impact on the viewer's experience. Additionally, there will be presentations that showcase modern critical perspectives and innovative methods in film criticism. Interactive workshops will be held to broaden participants' understanding of sound in cinema and develop their skills in criticism and analysis. Selected film screenings will be accompanied by discussions in the "Critics' Corner."

The conference will include musical evenings, an art exhibition showcasing multimedia works, and a dedicated area for children and families that will feature an educational cultural program aimed at introducing younger generations to the elements of film criticism and sound in films, thereby enhancing film culture interactively and educationally.

The Film Commission concluded a series of film criticism forums earlier this year, organized in Hail on September 27 and in Al-Ahsa on October 25, in preparation for the international conference in Riyadh. The events are part of the commission's broader efforts to support and advance the cinematic movement in the Kingdom and the region, creating platforms that connect creators, pioneers, amateurs, and enthusiasts while fostering cinematic culture.
