KACARE Secures Interim Storage License for Radioactive Waste Management

King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) was granted an interim storage license for radioactive waste management warehouses in Al-Khaserah by the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC), testimony to the city's commitment to improving radioactive waste management, on par with the highest national and international standards.

 This achievement is part of broader national endeavors to ensure nuclear and radiological safety, support sustainable development, and ensure a secure environment for present and future generations.

 KACARE expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Energy for its continued support and to NRRC for its efforts to facilitate the issuance of the license.

 KACARE is dedicated to managing radioactive waste at national level. It oversees the current inventory stored in its warehouses and addresses any emerging radioactive waste. Moreover, the city is coming up with infrastructure projects for the final disposal of radioactive waste, prioritizing safety and security while contributing to environmental protection and the welfare of future generations.
