'At the Edge of Renewal' Exhibition in Jeddah Showcases Writing, Publishing, Archival Practices
The Jameel Library at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah has opened the "At the Edge of Renewal" exhibition, showcasing creative experiences by women from Gulf countries in writing, publishing, arts, and archival practices. The exhibition runs until April 10, 2027, and features materials being presented to the public for the first time.
The exhibition brings together books, periodicals, oral history materials, and independent and experimental publications documenting the production, publication, and circulation of creative works in the region. It also provides access to materials not previously included in institutional collections, alongside drafts, book and artwork prototypes, and works in progress as well as completed works, highlighting the stages of their development from initial concept to final form.
The opening program featured a panel discussion exploring gaps in archives, memory, and history, a gathering combining reading and textile-inspired collaborative activities, a group reading, and a theatrical performance.
