Alisha Moopen Highlights AsterDM Healthcare’s Strategic Vision for Saudi Arabia

Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of AsterDM Healthcare, outlined the company’s ambitious plans for expanding healthcare services in Saudi Arabia during a panel discussion at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh. Moopen emphasized AsterDM’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals, particularly through digital health initiatives and the upcoming launch of the MyAster platform, aimed at enhancing accessibility for patients across the country.

Reflecting on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Moopen highlighted a shift toward "hyper-localization" in healthcare, underscoring the importance of building self-sufficient systems within each country. “COVID-19 forced us to think differently about preparedness and efficiency in healthcare. It’s no longer a question of if another pandemic will come, but when,” Moopen stated, adding that advancements in remote monitoring and digital solutions are pivotal to AsterDM’s growth strategy in the region.

Aster’s expansion in Saudi Arabia includes the operation of 12 pharmacies and the Aster Sanad Hospital, a 250-bed tertiary care facility that recently broadened its services in neurology, cardiology, and women’s and children’s health. Moopen noted that the focus is on quality, affordable healthcare for the Kingdom's middle-income segment, in line with mandatory health insurance requirements expected to roll out in the coming years. "Our goal is to address the middle and lower segments, who will gain the largest access under this new insurance landscape," she said.

Collaboration with Saudi government bodies remains central to AsterDM’s long-term strategy, with joint initiatives targeting primary care, mental health, and addiction treatment. Moopen emphasized the role of digital health in reducing costs, enabling more sustainable care models for insurers and patients alike. "Our mission is to balance quality with affordability, creating healthcare systems that work for everyone," she affirmed.

While Aster Sanad’s focus has not yet shifted toward medical tourism, Moopen hinted at future potential as the company’s hospital network grows, positioning Saudi Arabia as a global healthcare destination.

As AsterDM strengthens its foothold in Saudi Arabia, Moopen stressed the company’s dedication to aligning with the Kingdom’s healthcare priorities, providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare across the region.
