Aseer's Farmers Gear Up for Spring Planting Season
Farmers in Aseer Region are preparing to plant spring crops with the start of the new agricultural season, taking advantage of the region’s natural resources and diverse topography, which contribute to the variety of their harvests.
They plow and level the fields while maintaining the terraced hillsides, a distinctive feature of agriculture in the region, as these terraces conserve soil and rainwater, and enhance agricultural productivity in both the highlands and the Tihama Plains.
Blending tradition with innovation, farmers are implementing irrigation systems that draw on rainwater and wells alongside advanced, technology-driven solutions. Meanwhile, greenhouses and nurseries are cultivating seedlings, enhancing sustainability and maximizing water efficiency.
The crops farmers are preparing to plant this season are diverse, including grains such as corn, wheat, millet, and barley, as well as seasonal fruits like grapes, figs, and pomegranates.
These efforts are continuously supported by the relevant authorities through programs and initiatives aimed at developing the agricultural sector, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting local farmers.
