Saudi Date Markets Welcome Early Madinah Harvest

Date markets across the Kingdom have begun welcoming the early harvest of dates from Madinah, renowned for producing some of the finest varieties, as the annual date season gets underway.

 The harvest starts in June and continues through the end of November. On this occasion, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture stated that Madinah produces 58 distinct varieties of dates, contributing to the Kingdom’s total of more than 404 varieties cultivated across all regions.

 The ministry also reported that Saudi Arabia is home to approximately 37.1 million date palm trees, with total date production exceeding 1.9 million tons by the end of 2023.

 In terms of production, Qassim Region led with 578,000 tons, followed by Riyadh Region with over 453,000 tons, Madinah Region with more than 343,000 tons, and Eastern Region with over 258,700 tons.
