Paragliding in Aseer: Boosting Tourism and Highlighting Natural Beauty

Paragliding has emerged as one of the most prominent recreational and tourism activities in Aseer Region. Over the past few years, it has evolved from a personal hobby practiced by a limited number of enthusiasts into an organized sport benefiting from growing community support.
The sport originated more than 25 years ago in Al-Soudah highlands, benefiting from the region’s mountainous terrain, high elevations, and favorable air currents. Over time, paragliding expanded to several governorates, providing an ideal environment for enthusiasts and visitors.
The sport attracts participants across a wide age range, from 16 to 60 years old. It is not limited to a specific age group; rather, it depends on proper training, physical fitness, and strict adherence to established safety standards.
Several non-profit organizations have contributed to developing the sport by organizing events and tourism programs that feature paragliding demonstrations and experiences within seasonal events.
